GLAUCIDIUM (Glaucid'ium)

DESCRIPTION: This perennial is a native of Japan. It grows up to 20 inches high and wide. It has attractive, bright green, paired leaves, which are divided into 7 to 11 irregularly toothed lobes, at the ends of erect stems. The large, cup-shaped, dainty flowers are pale mauve. They are borne singly on thin stems in late spring.

POTTING: This plant should be grown in moist, leafy or peaty soil that is well drained. It needs partial shade or dappled sunlight, in a cool, sheltered position.

PROPAGATION: This plant may be divided, but it is better to leave it undisturbed once it has become established. Seeds may also be sown in the fall.
