Coreopsis - Pot Of Gold
(Coreop'sis)
DESCRIPTION: These hardy annuals and perennials, commonly called Tickseed, belong to the Daisy family, Compositae. They are natives of central and southeastern U. S. They are bushy and grow 1 to 2 feet high. The leaves are whole or pinnately lobed and grow mostly in basal rosettes. The single or double, golden yellow flowers are produced atop long stems and are 2 inches across. They will flower more profusely if the dead blooms are picked off. The cut flowers last long in water.

PROPAGATION: Seeds may be sown indoors in a 70-degree temperature, 4 to 6 weeks before it is safe to plant them outside. Seeds may also be planted directly where they are to grow when the soil is warm.
VARIETIES: C. grandiflora; C. auriculata; C. lanceolata; C. verticillata; C. coronata; C. Drummondii; C. tinctoria.
