Colquhounia
DESCRIPTION: This group consists of three evergreen subshrubs native to the Himalayas and Southeast Asia. C. coccinea is an attractive, medium-sized shrub with large, fuzzy leaves. In the autumn, spikes of tubular, scarlet flowers are borne. This plant can grow up to 8 feet high.
POTTING: These plants should be grown in moderately mild climates. They need a sunny location, such as against wall. Sometimes they are killed back be frost, but they usually send up new shoots again in early summer. Grow these plants in any well-drained, friable soil.
