CAUTLEYA

DESCRIPTION: This plant grows up to 2 feet high with a spread of 20 inches. It is an upright plant with large, lance-shaped, shiny green leaves on reed-like stems. The funnel-shaped, pale orange or yellow flowers are surrounded by maroon-purple bracts and are produced in erect spikes above the leaves in late summer and early fall. This plant is originally found in the Himalayas.

POTTING: Cautleyas should be grown in deep, fertile, moist soil in full sun. It should have shelter from cold, dry winds.

PROPAGATION: Increase your plants by division or seeds in the spring.
