Garden Pest and Plant Disease Listing - VE
VERTICILLIUM WILT: This soil-borne fungus normally causes the outer and older leaves of affected plants to wilt, dry up, and turn dark brown or red between the veins and at the edges. If new leaves form they're deformed. With a severe attack, many plants may die. This fungus can live in the soil for many years. It can affect strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, tomatoes, potatoes, eggplants, and peppers. There is no cure for affected plants, but there are preventative measures. Don't plant in low, wet locations. Plant resistant varieties, where susceptible crops have been recently grown. Start with healthy plants. Clean gardening tools before using them.
