Garden Pest and Plant Disease Listing - ST

STRAWBERRY BUD WEEVIL: This is a very troublesome pest of the Rockies. This dark, reddish-brown weevil lays eggs in flower buds and cuts partly through stems, causing flower buds to fall over or off. They hibernate in woodlots and nearby foliage, coming out in early spring. Destroy damaged buds, eliminate hibernation sites such as organic trash and nearby foliage, and/or apply a botanical insecticide registered for use on strawberries.

STREPTOMYCIN: A bactericide used to control several plant diseases, including fire blight.
