VILLOUS: Having long, soft, individual hairs.

VILLUS: One of the long, straight and soft hairs that sometimes cover the fruit, flowers, and other parts of plants.

VINE: These are climbing plants with woody or herbaceous stems that climb, twist, adhere, or scramble over other taller objects (shrubs, trees, walls, fences, arbors, porches, gazebos, etc.) in order to reach sunlight. Vines can climb by tendrils, aerial roots, twining stems, twining leafstalks, adhesive disks, and hooks. Vines that climb under their own ability are called self-clinging. Some plants used as vines merely sprawl and must be trained or secured with ties to an upright support, such as a trellis.

VIRGIN SOIL: Soil that hasn't been significantly disturbed from its natural environment.

VISCID: Sticky; having a sticky layer.

VISCIDIUM: The sticky portion of the rostellum which is connected to pollinia.

VISTA: A view of prospect, especially through an avenue, as between rows of trees. The trees or other things that form the avenue.

VIVIPAROUS: Germination that takes place while the new plant is still attached to the parent plant.
