UNDERBRUSH: Small trees and/or shrubs growing under large trees in a wood or forest; also called brush or undergrowth.

UNDERSHRUB: A shrubby plant that barely grows as large as a shrub; a very small shrub.

UNDULATE:Wavy, as the surface or edge of a sepal, petal, or leaf.

UNGUICULATE: Having a claw; commonly said of a perianth segment.

UNHUMIDIFIED: Said of organic matter before its decomposition into humus.

UNIFLOROUS: Having only one flower.

UNIFOLIATE: One-leaved; having one leaf.

UNIFOLIOLATE: Having a leaf that is compound in structure, but has only one leaflet, such as the orange tree.

UNIPAROUS: Having one branch.

UNISEXUAL: Said of a flower containing the organs of one sex: stamens or pistils, but not both; diclinous.
