PLACENTA: The part of the carpel of flowering plants that bears the ovules.

PLANT BREEDING: The propagation of selected plants to develop unique qualities such as prettier flowers or disease resistance.

PLANTLET: A new plant which usually grows from a wound in a leaf or stem or is naturally produced on the leaf edges as in some varieties of Kalanchoe.

PLEACH: To join (the branches of vines, shrubs, etc.) by braiding or weaving them together.

PLICATE: Folded lengthwise like a fan; pleated.

PLUMOSE: Feathery or plume-like, with fine hairs on opposite sides, as in the pappuse of some Compositae.
