IRON:Plants need this soil nutrient to manufacture chlorophyll. In alkaline soil, plants may not be able to absorb iron from the soil, which causes the leaves to turn yellow with green veins. Products, containing iron chelates can be added to the soil or sprayed on the plant's leaves to make iron available to the roots and foliage.

IRON CHELATE: A form of iron that is readily available to plants when iron in the soil isn't available to the roots. Products that contain iron chelates can be added to the soil or sprayed on the foliage.

IRREGULAR: Not having all the members of the same part alike; asymmetrical; lacking uniformity (often refers to flowers).

IRRIGATE: To pass a liquid over or through; specifically, to water by causing a stream or streams to flow over land.

IRRIGATION: The act of watering or moistening; the covering of anything with water or other liquid for the purpose of making or keeping it moist, such as the distribution of water over land to promote the growth of plants.
