HIBERNACULUM:The part of a plant that is dormant in the winter, as a bulb or bud.

HILAR: Belonging to the hilum, or scar, on a seed produced by the attachment to the pod, as with beans.

HILL: 1. A small raised mound or raised row with a cluster of cultivated plants, such as potatoes. 2. A group of vining plants or others planted in a cluster instead of a row, such as a hill of squash or pumpkin, even if the soil isn't mounded above the level of the garden.

HILUM: The scar on a seed marking its point of attachment, as with beans or peas.

HIRSUTE: Having coarse, rigid hairs.

HISPID: Having stiff, bristly hairs or tiny spines.

HISPIDITY: The state of being hispid.

HISPIDULOUS: Somewhat hispid.
