ENANTIOBLASTIC:Pertaining to a plant embryo, originating at the end directly opposite the hilum.

ENATION: An outgrowth from the surface of a leaf or other plant part.

ENDEMIC: Native to, naturally restricted to, or found only in a particular area or region.

ENDOCARP: In fruits whose pericarp consists of dissimilar layers, the innermost layer. It may be hard and stony (i.e. plum or peach pit), membranous (i.e. apple core), or fleshy (i.e. orange pulp).

ENDOGEN: A plant that develops from or on the inside, as most monocots.

ENDOGENOUS: 1. Of or pertaining to endogens (endogenous plants). 2. Proceeding from within (endogenous growth).

ENDOSTOME: The opening in the inner covering of the ovule.

ENDOSULFAN: A broad spectrum, synthetic insecticide used to control many plant pests, including whiteflies and thrips. Common trade name is Thiodan.

ENSIFORM: Sword-shaped; long, narrow, flat, and tapering to a point, as the leaves of many species of iris.

ENTIRE: Undivided and without teeth.

ENTOMOPHILOUS: Applied to flowers whose structure ordinarily requires insects to pollinate them.
