DACTYLOID: Finger-like in form or arrangement.

DAMPING OFF: A commonname for a soil disease caused by a number of different organisms. It causes seeds to rot or seedlings to collapse. The best ways to prevent this is by planting in sterile soil, treating seeds with a fungicide, or soaking the soil with a fungicide; also avoid over-watering and planting warm-season vegetables in cold soil.
